With fall baseball and softball season approaching, Van Alstyne’s parks crew outlined the steps they take to prepare playing fields.
Jeff Slate said the team has been setting bases and installing two temporary pitcher’s mounds while ensuring measurements meet league needs. “We have 2 new pitchers mounds, temporary pitchers mounds,” Slate said, describing in-house work to prepare fields for different age groups.
Paul and William added practical details about field maintenance: dragging the field twice a week, painting bases and checking that anchors and measurements remain straight so fields are conditioned and safe for youth leagues. Paul said the crew prioritizes accurate measurements for league standards and player safety.
