Board reviews strategic-plan 'building blocks' that will shape superintendent objectives

Superintendent Whitney walked the board through the strategic plan's building blocks and how they will inform the superintendent's annual objectives. She listed the core building blocks, saying board members "read in columns not rows" and that the blocks include "prioritizing student learning, the new basics or real skills for real life, attract, hire, and retain the best people, building highly engaged family, community, and business partnerships, and student ready operations including nutrition services, transportation facilities, maintenance, custodial, fiscal technology, and safety."
Whitney tied those building blocks to the district's existing long-term outcome targets, saying the district will "measure what matters" through monitoring defined data sets using a tiered significance framework. Board members were instructed to focus on key commitments from these building blocks when completing their ranking sheets this evening.
