County staff explained that after the Central Dispatch Administrative Authority disbanded, the county took over dispatch operations and preserved terms of the existing contract for the first year while negotiating an initial agreement with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 3. The proposed contract integrates dispatch staff into the county compensation system while maintaining many prior terms, staff said.
Phil Herring, representing the Operating Engineers, addressed the board and thanked staff for completing the transition, saying the employees were rolled over to county status and that negotiations took time but are now in a good position. A motion to approve the initial labor agreement was made, seconded and approved by voice vote; the transcript records no roll-call tally.
