The board voted to approve the third amendment to the county’s contract with Liberty Vote Systems to acquire two additional ImageCast precinct tabulators intended for West Wendover and Carlin polling places. Elko County Clerk Rebecca Plunk told the commission the devices will be used with new ballot-marking devices (which print a paper ballot) and explained that printed ballots will be scanned by tabulators and the results stored on an SD card that will be returned to the clerk’s office for tabulation.
Plunk invited commissioners and the public to a hands-on demonstration of ballot-marking devices and tabulators on April 10 in the clerk’s annex. A motion to approve the amendment was made, seconded and adopted on a voice vote. The funds for the two tabulators will come from the Clerk’s Technology Fund and the Secretary of State’s Office may reimburse the county for licensing and possibly for additional tabulators, she said.
