Engineer: Pinehurst inlet grate replacement near completion; storm exceeded design rainfall

District Engineer Charlie Krebs told the River Ridge board on Aug. 27 that the MRI project to replace Pinehurst valley gutter inlet grates is about 80% complete and he will follow up on the schedule for the asphalt patch. Krebs said parts of the community received nearly 8 inches of rain in two or three days during Tropical Storm Debbie, exceeding the roads' 24-hour design capacity of 5½ inches.
He recommended The Club consider adding a drainage connection to E1-A so stormwater could bypass pipes and inlets and flow directly into the lake. On the subject of a resident report of standing water and mold at 21723 Oak Run, Krebs said he does not believe the stormwater is the cause because other units did not report similar issues; the board asked Mr. Long to address the matter on the next agenda.
Krebs also noted the developer-installed second outfall to the FPL easement and earlier modifications to a few control structures. He will confirm whether roadways or curbs were damaged during MRI's recent work and follow up with the board.
