Albert Lea school board adopts 2024 Pay 2025 final levy with 2.44% decrease

The Albert Lea Public School District School Board on Dec. 2 voted unanimously to adopt the 2024 Pay 2025 Final Levy, a levy the district reported as a 2.44% decrease from the prior year. The action took place at the boardb9s regular session at Brookside Education Center following the Truth-in-Taxation hearing.
Paul Durbahn, the districtb9s Executive Director of Finance, Operations and Safety, presented the levy to trustees and noted enrollment remains uncertain. He said the district expects official October 1 enrollment figures from the state in early January and that the budget will be revised once those counts are certified. The board approved the presented levy by a 7-0 vote.
The motion to adopt the final levy was moved by Trustee Dave Klatt and seconded by Trustee Gary Schindler; the record shows the motion carried 7-0. Members listed as present for the vote were Kim Nelson, Gary Schindler, Angie Hoffman, Neal Skaar, Bruce Olson, Dave Klatt and Davy Villarreal. Superintendent Wagner was listed as administrator present.
The boardb9s action completes the levy adoption step for 2024 Pay 2025 but leaves a budget revision pending the stateb9s enrollment certification. The district indicated the revised budget will be presented after the October 1 enrollment data arrive in January.
