He said the contractor’s work looks good and noted that new asphalt is typically seal‑coated about a year after placement to prolong pavement life.
Burton said crews replaced an old fire hydrant at 1800 East and 6550 South because the unit, stamped from the 1970s, could not be economically repaired. That replacement required a temporary water shutdown; Burton said he is pursuing installation of a valve between 6600 and 6550 to limit future outages, and he is evaluating either a shut‑down installation or an insert valve (the latter is more expensive but avoids shutting customers off).
On parks, Burton said the pickleball and tennis courts were repainted and received new nets; wooden silhouettes at the park were removed after weathering. He also said cemetery sprinkler heads were adjusted to reduce overspray. Burton added that he has restocked meter supplies to speed future repairs and engaged Jones & Associates to produce a road report to guide a longer‑term road maintenance program.
