Weights & Measures reports petroleum failures, finds pricing errors at Dollar General stores

Weights & Measures Director Ted Dyment told the Wayne County Public Works Committee on March 5 that two petroleum samples taken in February failed inspection and resulted in two penalties.
Dyment also said the department conducted pricing-accuracy inspections across local retail sites, inspecting 11 Dollar General stores and finding significant pricing accuracy failures at six of those locations. "The department does not publicize those findings," Dyment said when asked whether inspections are shared with consumers. The department logged two consumer complaints during the month; one complaint led to a penalty.
The update was provided during the committee's regular meeting; no formal action was taken on the report beyond its acceptance into the record. The report highlights enforcement activity in consumer-facing fuel and retail pricing that county residents may see reflected in inspection follow-ups or penalties.
