Council approves code change to let utilities be split off without full subdivision

Scott explained the change applies when the lot split is solely for municipal utility infrastructure such as a well or booster station and is intended to streamline city projects. "So if it's for utility, you can split it off without going through the subdivision process," Scott said while describing the amendment that inserts the language into Title 11, chapter 14, section 6.
The planning commission had recommended approval, and council members agreed the change would reduce administrative burden for municipal projects. A motion to approve the amendment carried on a voice vote; staff said the amendment is general-purpose and not tied to a single property.
