Butler County delays formal adoption of new Comprehensive Plan until June 9

Community Development Director Toby Stewart presented the proposed update to the county's Comprehensive Plan, but commissioners voted to table final adoption to June 9 to allow the Planning Commission to adopt the plan in resolution form and to correct a clerical error and broaden policy language on large industrial uses.

Community Development Director Toby Stewart presented the proposed Butler County Comprehensive Plan — a replacement to the county's earlier guidance (including the 1999 "Butler Vision 2020") that frames growth around three frameworks: Unincorporated Butler County, Incorporated Butler County, and Preservation and Open Space. Stewart told the Board the plan incorporates public engagement, a market analysis, housing trends and an action plan intended to guide development toward cities and to preserve agricultural land.
