Commission approves amendment to clear closing path for Airtech workforce housing

The Plainfield Redevelopment Commission unanimously approved a 5th amendment to the Airtech Workforce Housing Campus project agreement on July 6, 2026, a change the developer said is needed to align plan-review milestones with lender requirements so the project can close.

Jake Rupp of Helix33 told commissioners the amendment is primarily timing language to ensure “we can have the approval so they can close on the land,” and said lenders expect approvals to be in place before closing. “We’re really excited. We have made such headway on this project, and we are about to have it come to a close,” Rupp said. He noted a Design Review hearing on materials and a Plan Commission hearing anticipated in early August.

Chair Philip Clay asked for additional questions; none were raised. Commissioner Lance Angle moved to approve the amendment and Commissioner Dan Bridget seconded. The clerk recorded a roll-call vote with Mr. Angle, Mr. Clay, Ms. Renk, Mr. Bridget and Mr. Kingseed voting yes; the motion passed.

The commission’s vote clears a procedural hurdle for the developer to meet lender conditions and continue toward the closing required for the workforce-housing project.
