Board approves zone change on Trescot Street to allow multifamily development; neighbors protest

The county approved a zone change requested by Frederick Fabian that shifts a parcel near State Route 806 from manufactured-residential-commercial (MRC) to R-4 multifamily residential to allow duplex or similar housing. Neighbors cited traffic, flood risk and wildlife concerns; the applicant said he does not plan large apartment complexes.

The Lander County Board of Commissioners approved zoning application 25-0046 filed by Frederick Fabian to change a portion of APN 002-280-10 from MRC to R-4 multifamily residential, a move proponents said would clear the way for modest, relatively affordable housing units. The planning commission had recommended approval on Sept. 19, and the board voted to adopt the recommendation after a public hearing in which neighbors raised quality-of-life concerns.
