Building department reports active permits, short plats and comp plan work

Building-department staff reported several projects and enforcement matters in early stages: ongoing violations, a fence violation involving a recent property owner, coordination with 'Jason's Greenhouse' on a proposed project, and proposed short plats at Timpsu and Murphy Lane. The official said these permit requests are in early stages and could return to the council if variance or other approvals are sought.

The official also said the planning commission is working on comprehensive-plan amendments driven by state legislation that requires updates to local plans for housing density and affordable housing. "So the state passed many new laws last year that required our comp plan to be updated," the staff member said. Council members were told to expect further planning-commission work and eventual council consideration of proposed changes.
