State board approves redistricting plan affecting USD 334; local approvals and votes remain
The Kansas State Board of Education approved a boundary plan that would shift about 54 square miles to USD 239 if local votes and affected districts approve; Ottawa County officials said the acreage lies outside county boundaries and will not affect Ottawa County assessed valuations.

Dr. Curtis Steven, USD 239 Superintendent, briefed commissioners on a redistricting plan approved Sept. 10 by the Kansas State Board of Education that affects USD 334 and Southern Cloud County districts. The plan will be subject to a November vote by Southern Cloud County School District citizens; if approved by Southern Cloud voters and each of the five affected districts, the change returns to the state board for final approval.
