Kane County approves zoning change to allow occasional yurt rental on Windmill Ranch parcel
The Kane County Commission unanimously approved Ordinance No. O 2026-20 to rezone parcel 323-8 in the Windmill Ranch Unimproved Subdivision from AG-FAA to Agricultural, allowing the owner to rent a single yurt occasionally, the county staff report found.

The Kane County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved Ordinance No. O 2026-20 on July 14, 2026, amending the zoning of parcel 323-8 in the Windmill Ranch Unimproved Subdivision from AG-FAA to Agricultural. Shannon McBride told commissioners the property owner requested the change to permit “a single yurt to rent out once in a while,” language reflected in the staff report and the motion record.
