The clerk explained that the office runs internal L&A checks and a public L&A to test express-vote pads, microphones, name pronunciation and DS200 tabulation accuracy using pre-marked test decks. “So, what we do is we start with once the election is created, obviously, we start with an internal l and a where we test all of our equipment, make sure it's tabulating correctly, run like, there's no errors,” the elections clerk said. She told commissioners the office uses sealed machines and night judges to verify early-voting counts and then runs a post-election hand-count audit using batches selected by the Lt. Governor’s office.
On the recent audit staff reported the hand count matched the machine results with only a small technical issue: “Everything matched up with a little technical error.” The clerk said the office pulled the audit batches, completed hand counts and reconciled totals before presenting the results for canvass.
