The Pine County Board approved a dispatch improvement project to add paging capability across dispatch consoles. The sheriff told commissioners the project "is about a $120,000 project," and that there is "$50,000 of state money that's sitting there that we need to spend by the end of the month," with the remainder to come from existing E911 funding.
The improvement adds a paging station so all three dispatch consoles can page local responders—an operational fix presenters said will increase reliability for paging. Commissioners asked about bidding and vendor selection; the sheriff said the county's existing vendor (Motorola/DSC) would perform the upgrade because it matches current equipment and vendor support. The motion to approve the purchase was made, seconded and carried during the meeting.
No county general fund appropriation was requested for this purchase; staff said the funds are already allocated in state and E911 funding streams and that the purchase will be implemented over the coming months.
