Director Heather Coleman-Cox moved the amendment to add the item, which she and Director Erasto Sedda supported; the amendment failed on a 2–4 vote. Chair Blake Petersen said some members worried the proposal "felt in-depth" and that the board did not have enough information to make a decision. The original motion to approve the meeting agenda as presented carried 5–1.
Board members who opposed the amendment argued the topic had already been raised in statewide reconciliation and noted this proposal was a different conversation about where to locate limited music resources. Supporters framed the amendment as a short-term, 12-month stability approach to keep part-time music available while longer-term policy committee work continues. The board did not take further action on a music-stability funding plan at this meeting.
