Residents press planners to correct demographic data and address infrastructure in North Riverside plan

Several public commenters told the commission they believed the draft comprehensive plan miscategorized race and ethnicity and undercounted Hispanic residents; one resident asked the authors to correct terminology and revisit the demographic charts. Staff acknowledged the concern and offered to review the figures and graph scales cited during public comment.

A resident raised infrastructure concerns, saying roughly 1,900 lead service lines need replacement and asking what the plan proposes to address pipes and stormwater. Staff replied that lead-service-line replacement is an EPA requirement and that a separate department is developing a replacement plan, and that the comprehensive plan identifies the need while other departments will run specific infrastructure programs.
