Commission hears AMATS report and planning department issues phishing alert

Commissioner Ron reported out on an AMATS Citizen Advisory Committee meeting, noting administrative bylaw updates, two letters to the AMATS policy committee (including one asking reconsideration of adding the Safer Seward Highway project to the Metropolitan Transportation Plan) and ongoing work to redraw MPO boundaries following the census.

Planning Director Babb warned commissioners and the public about an ongoing phishing scam that uses information published on CityView to send fraudulent emails and invoices that look legitimate and ask applicants to wire funds. She said people have lost thousands of dollars and that applicants should not send money in response to email requests; the planning department asked that recipients forward suspicious emails and invoices to staff so IT and law enforcement can investigate. The commission adjourned following these reports.
