Clark County recognizes Child Abuse Prevention Month; staff note hiring challenges and community programs

The Board presented a proclamation recognizing Child Abuse Prevention Month after Denise Loges of Family and Children Services described a difficult staffing year and praised remaining staff for sustaining safety and advocacy for children. Commissioners publicly thanked Family and Children Services and the Child Advocacy Center for their work.
County staff also announced workforce and community events: Tom McGrath, Job & Family Services Director, said OhioMeansJobs will host its 16th Annual Job Fair on April 14, 2026; Reentry Director Brooke Wagner summarized Reentry Month programming and a Reentry Simulation on April 29; Veterans Service Commission representative Anissa Younts said her office will hold de-escalation training and is hiring an office manager. Job & Family Services staff described creative hiring approaches, including internships and intermittent employees to cover evenings and weekends.
Commissioners said they planned future proclamations and community engagement events and asked HR to continue flexible hiring to address service needs.
