Clark County commissioners plan second public hearing on Moorefield Township TIF

"I have heard concerning comments and received concerning phone calls and emails this week from folks having inaccurate information," Commissioner Rittenhouse said, urging that the vote be based on accurate facts. Mr. Harris, asked to clarify how schools are affected, told the board the school board votes on a compensation agreement, not the TIF ordinance itself, and stated there is "no scenario where the schools would get nothing." Darren Cotter, Moorefield Township Trustee, told the commissioners trustees support another public hearing and said the school district currently advertises open enrollment on its website.
Commissioner Charles A. Patterson said a second hearing was a "great idea" and acknowledged residents' desire to preserve farmland, while Commissioner Richard L. Lohnes noted the importance of ensuring township satisfaction with any agreement. The commissioners said they would wait for further facts and figures before scheduling the evening hearing and work with township and school officials to make information public.
