Council reviews design-development pricing for three fire stations; staff says DD about 75% complete

City staff and consultant Reeves Young (presenter Adam Scott) briefed the council on design-development (DD) pricing for Fire Station 14 and a logistics building, reporting a combined DD estimate presented in the record as "38.205074" (transcript figure). Staff identified high-value value-management items exceeding $2.6 million that may be considered as deductive alternates at guaranteed maximum price (GMP) or retained as upgrades, including changes to exterior finishes, generator sizing and elements of the training/classroom facility and fire pump equipment.

Adam Scott said the team is about 75% complete in design development and will continue value-management work through GMP; "we're probably about 75% complete," he said. Staff told council they expect GMP/100% construction-document pricing in mid-November and plan to begin construction of two fire stations in January, and that the temporary fire station on Roswell Road will be finished in December so crews can move into the new Fire Station 1. Council asked staff to continue to pursue cost reductions and to find funding for renovations at Fire Station 3.
