Cloverdale Elementary principal (S9) told the board the school will implement a "1 Book, 1 School" social-emotional-learning program next year, using titles by local author Trudy Ludwig. The principal described books selected for different grades (Power of One for general school-wide use; Trouble Talk for 2nd and 3rd graders; Just Kidding for 4th and 5th graders; Sorry for K and 1) and said each child will receive a copy along with parent activities.
S9 said the school negotiated discounted bulk pricing through the publisher and that Ludwig will come to the school for an assembly and classroom activities. "If you'd like to come, I'd love to have you," S9 said. The board discussed availability and thanked the principal for a program designed to build shared language and social-emotional strategies across the school community.
