Committee authorizes Ho-Chunk funds for generator upgrades after engineer flags code-driven costs

County staff reported that engineer and electrician inspections of generator projects at Vernon Manor and Vernon Acres identified code-required upgrades not included in the initial scope. The additional work includes upgrading some aluminum wiring to copper for underground runs (an estimated $12,000 alone) and potential new conduit and enunciator wiring; staff said the $33,767.26 figure was a worst-case estimate and explained the safety rationale for copper and for surge protection and separate life-safety panels.
