Board studies LCAP alignment and asks staff for June data update

The Sunnyvale School District Board received a study-session briefing on the district's Local Control and Accountability Plan and its alignment with the district strategic plan. Dr. Tashadeen, the district's Chief Teaching and Learning Officer, framed the session as a preparatory step for the June LCAP update: "Tonight is an opportunity to lay the foundation," she said.
Board members pressed staff for more site-level and multi-year benchmarking that would let trustees evaluate progress and consider equity-driven reallocation. Trustee comments focused on how local indicators such as NWEA and social-emotional measures map to state priorities and how staffing and targeted resources will be reflected in the June report. Dr. Tashadeen said the district will return in June with the fuller dataset once midyear benchmarks and SEL screening windows close.
Trustees directed staff to return with clearer, per-site trend lines and to show how targeted resources tie to student groups flagged in the LCAP. The board left the study session with a procedural plan to use the sticker-prioritization exercise results to inform the first draft of the 2025-26 LCAP.
