Vineyard honors library after three-year push to statewide certification

The Vineyard City Council on June 23 recognized the city library for reaching statewide certification after a three-year effort.
"We have reached the mile milestone here in Vineyard to get the Vineyard library certified," said Brian Vaudry, who presented the recognition to the council and thanked Valerie and the library board for their work. Vaudry told the council the certification reflects years of data collection, policy development, programming growth and community engagement.
Vaudy said that certification means the library "meets the same statewide operational standards that established public libraries have throughout Utah" and that it should open doors to more state and federal funding and partnerships. Council members applauded and the group posed for a photograph at the dais.
Council members and staff noted the certification as a win for future library services and outreach; no formal action was required beyond recognition. The council moved from the recognition into business items on the agenda.
