Council approves Island County tourism interlocal agreement restructuring

Council approved a resolution authorizing Island County, Oak Harbor, Langley and Coupeville to adopt a restructured tourism promotion interlocal agreement that creates a county program manager, an advisory board of lodging and chamber representatives, and an elected executive board for fiscal oversight and recalculation of municipal contributions.

Council discussed and voted to approve a resolution authorizing Island County, Oak Harbor, Langley and Coupeville to implement a restructured tourism interlocal agreement. The mayor explained the new structure would place a county staff program manager in charge of operations and compliance, create an advisory board of chambers and lodging businesses for input, and establish an executive board of elected officials responsible for fiscal oversight and supervision of the program manager.
