Applicant TL highlights accessibility, spot repairs and mobility experiments

During TL's interview, the candidate described a personal incident that motivated civic engagement: a neighbor's wheelchair getting stuck in mud. TL said the city should map and prioritize 10'20 high-impact accessibility fixes near residences, commit a small annual capital allocation for spot repairs and clearly map ownership so problems get resolved quickly.

TL also proposed testing temporary, small-scale "cyclovia"-style events to close streets for pedestrians and bicycles as a way to experiment with downtown reimagining before making permanent changes. On broader priorities TL described mobility infrastructure and social-isolation response systems as central to a resilient Poulsbo.

"Your wheelchairs should never be stuck in the mud," TL said when describing why neighborhood-level accessibility matters, and urged the council to fund and track small, targeted repairs so residents can move independently.

TL recommended a listening-and-experiment approach for downtown policy: start with small, temporary closures tied to events, evaluate business impacts, then consider incremental permanent changes. The council thanked TL for practical, resident-focused proposals and moved on to additional interviews.
