BZA adopts compiled findings in split cell‑tower decision

The Grant County Board of Zoning Appeals voted to accept a compiled summary of findings of fact for docket o18‑26, a split decision on a proposed cell‑tower application. Chair (the meeting chair) read six findings that the board used to frame its decision, noting the item produced mixed member responses on the first two standards and that one of the findings (setback compliance) was not satisfied.

The chair cited surveys about property‑value impacts when explaining the first finding, saying the board had received evidence that property values could be affected. "One of the facts according that this was not satisfied was the impact to property values of 10 to 30% were cited from a survey by the National Institute for Science, Law, and Public Policy," the chair said during the presentation. County legal counsel explained that once the board votes on the compiled findings, those become the official findings the court will review if the matter is appealed. A roll‑call vote to adopt the chair's summary passed with the listed members voting in favor.
