Senior centers preview summer trips, tech classes and new programming

Senior-center staff told the commission about a new tech-education series, multiple local and international trips for members this summer and fall, and reopening updates for the new senior facility; staff urged volunteers and promoted upcoming events.
Senior-center staff and Carver center representatives briefed the commission on programming and upcoming trips.
Staff reported a new Tech Tips series that began with QR-code training and will include classes on protecting personal information online; "Our next, tech tip class is on the 23rd, and it's protecting personal information online," staff said. The centers also listed several trips and events — Biloxi in July with a day trip to New Orleans, a Rhine and Amsterdam river cruise (nearly full), casino trips in September and November, local day trips, monthly bingo and a Father's Day lunch on June 17 — and noted the new senior center's construction is progressing with an anticipated fall opening.
Carver center staff described an international trip to Canada for a group leaving at 8 a.m. and returning June 15, planned themed events (a glow disco) and recurring classes such as crochet and chair exercise. Staff requested volunteers for events and reminded members about registration procedures for popular tech clinics.
