Doug, the county's public works representative, updated the board on road and bridge work, safety devices and upcoming pre-construction meetings.
He reported that full-depth patching and widening planned for the day was delayed by weather. "Up at the bridge project, Merryman's, they are continuing to remove the bridge. They're getting ready to drive pile for the West Pier," Doug said. He added a pre-construction conference was scheduled for the project north of Lone Rock on P30 and that a speed-feedback sign is currently deployed at Whittemore for westbound traffic on McGregor.
Doug also said the county is preparing a grant application to seek flashing beacons for intersections where stop-sign compliance and accidents have been concerns. He noted ongoing shop repairs, salt storage work completed in Lone Rock and Sui City, and overall progress toward heavier construction activities.
