Facing partner withdrawals and a changed project scope, the Monument Town Council voted to withdraw the town from the Loop Water Authority.
Town staff said partner Cherokee Water District had already withdrawn in late 2024 and Donnella was expected to act soon, reducing the Authority's viability and changing the economics of the regional project. Town manager Madeline Vandenhook recommended withdrawal and told council staff would seek waivers to standard timing and pursue reimbursement accounting where possible: "It is our recommendation that we also choose to withdraw from the Loop Water Authority and pursue other future water supply options for the Town," she said.
Council discussed outstanding invoices, the potential recovery of funds previously paid and the need to coordinate final invoices and contract wrap‑ups with the authority. Members asked staff to pursue appropriate waivers to the 180‑day notice period and to secure any available reimbursements. Council approved the resolution authorizing withdrawal and delegated authority to the town manager to execute related documents.
