Eagle Point resident urges limits on wildfire sightseers

At the July 15 Jackson County commissioners meeting, Eagle Point resident Scott Walter urged limits on people traveling to view wildfires. County staff described law-enforcement and road-blocking measures to keep bystanders out of affected areas.

Scott Walter of Eagle Point raised a safety concern during the Board of Commissioners’ non-agenda public comment period on July 15, saying citizens traveling to wildfire sites to view the event pose risks to themselves and responders. The comment was entered during the meeting opened by Commissioner Rick Dyer in the Courthouse Auditorium.
