Senate approves athletic trainer compact to ease cross‑state practice

Senator Greene (Boone) said Senate File 21 39 would enact the Athletic Trainer Compact in Iowa, allowing licensed athletic trainers to practice in other compact member states without obtaining separate licenses. "Senate file 21 39 is legislation that enacts the athletic trainer compact in Iowa, enabling licensed athletic trainers to, practice in other member states without obtaining separate licenses," he said, and noted several other states have already enacted similar measures.
Greene told the chamber that passage would make Iowa the seventh state to enact the compact if pending measures in other states clear their legislatures. There was no recorded floor debate after opening remarks; the Senate read the bill for final passage and the secretary reported a unanimous roll call showing the bill passed (45‑0). Supporters said the compact eases provider mobility and licensing complexity for athletic trainers.
