Peekskill council approves 13 resolutions including appointments, budget amendment and contract authorization
Summary
On Feb. 10 the council moved and approved Resolutions J1–J13 (including appointments to boards, a budget amendment, a cleaning-services contract and scheduling public hearings); most passed unanimously, with one abstention recorded on J11.
The Common Council approved a slate of resolutions at its Feb. 10 meeting, taking action on appointments, a budget amendment, contract authorization, permit renewals and scheduling of public hearings.
Among the actions: the council moved and adopted Local Law 1 (creating the Peekskill Arts Council); appointed Karen Borgard to the Historic and Landmark Preservation Board (J2) and Rachel John to the Zoning Board of Appeals (J3); appointed Sarah Aproposio to the Conservation Advisory Council (J4); authorized a 2024 modified budget amendment to redistribute funds (J5); authorized a contract with Mercy House Cleaning Services for Section 8 offices (J6); approved an engineering agreement with Hudson Engineering for the Lower South Street Sewer Relocation Project (J7); renewed a special permit for JMP House at 200 North Water Street (J8); authorized submission of an application to the Municipal Investment Fund (J9); scheduled a Feb. 24 hearing on a James Street loading-zone amendment (J10); removed specified volunteers from the active volunteer firefighters list (J11) — which passed with one abstention during roll call; scheduled a Feb. 24 hearing on a proposed local law amending Chapter 560 (J12); and authorized the Omnia Partners procurement certificate (J13).
Most motions were moved by the assigned council members and carried unanimously. For example, Councilman Fassett moved J11 to remove listed volunteers from the active volunteer firefighters list; during roll call an abstention was recorded but the resolution passed by majority. The meeting minutes show recorded 'aye' votes for the present members on the other measures.
The resolutions package included procedural authorizations and appointments; where public hearings were scheduled the council set dates for Feb. 24, 2025. Several items authorize staff to execute contracts or file legal documents and will require administrative follow-up.
