The Village of Denton Board of Trustees on March 2, 2026 approved the first reading of Ordinance 26-3-1, adopting the Nebraska Basic Code of Ordinances, 2025, and unanimously voted to waive the state statutory requirement for three readings.
Trustee Doug Rosekrans moved to approve the first reading and introduction of the code update; Trustee Amanda Fangmeier seconded both the introduction motion and a separate motion to waive the three-reading requirement. The board recorded unanimous votes for both motions.
The ordinance is captioned in the minutes as "ORDINANCE 26-3-1 NE BASIC CODE OF ORDINANCES" and the minutes state it will revise and repeal prior local ordinances and provide an effective date. The board did not record changes to the draft text during the meeting; the minutes show the action was introduction and waiver rather than final adoption.
The matter will return to the board as required by ordinance-adoption rules if additional formal readings or an effective-date action are later scheduled.
