Peekskill to publish water-code changes and schedule public hearing on meter rules

City staff outlined proposed amendments to the water code to reflect modern automated meter technology, changes to meter definitions and responsibilities, and updated administrative processes for service connections and penalties. Dave Rambo explained the distinction staff wants clarified: residential meters under 1 inch (city-installed under a $1,500 fee) versus commercial meters over 1 inch (owner installs and pays for replacements). "A $190 is a lot different... so if there's any damage to a meter, we want to be compensated for that," Rambo said while explaining updated meter definitions and replacement responsibilities.
