Sheridan County rejects state grant that would require expanded clerk data submissions

County Clerk Eda Schunk Thompson explained the grant appears to require improving systems to submit land-conveyance legal descriptions in ways she said exceed statutory clerk duties; Administrative Director Cameron Duff supported declining the grant pending clearer terms. Commissioner Lonnie J. Wright moved to approve the grant agreement but the motion failed unanimously, leaving the county to seek clarification before any acceptance.
