County extends fuel contract with Keystone through 2026, plans rebid in November

The highway department reopened fuel bids after only one prior bidder; commissioners approved an amended Keystone Cooperative Energy contract through the end of 2026 and directed a rebid at the end of November to reset the annual bidding cycle.

Deandre (speaker 8) from the highway department told commissioners the department received only one bidder in the prior cycle and asked that the fuel bid be reopened for six months. Commissioners discussed pricing options including firm-price and fluctuating base-price models. Deandre said current pricing shows about a one-dollar change since 2025.
