Chief Recovery Officer Mathias told the Steelton-Highspire School District board that he will step away from his role at the end of August and that the department has named Dr. William Riker as the planned replacement.
Mathias emphasized the transition is not the result of internal conflict: "2nd of all, my reason for leaving has nothing to do with anything, internally," he said, and added that Dr. Riker "will continue to implement the financial recovery plan that is already in place." Mathias thanked staff and board members and said he has enjoyed his work with the community and district.
