Gresham-Barlow board adopts $286.6 million budget, sets tax rate

The Gresham-Barlow School District Board of Directors on June 4 adopted a $286,594,641 budget for the 2025–26 fiscal year and approved related appropriation and tax resolutions.
The board ratified Resolution 2026-01 adopting the budget and followed with Resolution 2026-02 to appropriate funds and Resolution 2026-03 to impose taxes. The board approved the actions by unanimous votes. “Move to ratify Resolution 2026-01 to adopt the budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year in the total amount of $286,594,641 now on file at the district's administrative business office,” read the motion that carried 6–0.
Interim Superintendent John Koch addressed questions raised during the budget hearing, explaining that some safety upgrades were supported by a COPS grant while about 100 cameras for gun detection came from the district budget. He also clarified an apparent increase of 3 full-time-equivalent positions in the administration line was a budget-accounting error: those positions were funded through SIA, Measure 98 and ESSER grants and are not new hires.
Board members thanked the budget committee and noted they had vetted line items during one-on-ones and committee review. The board emphasized that appropriations are set at the fund level and that the district cannot spend beyond appropriated amounts without further board action. The three motions (MOTIONS 103–105) to adopt the budget, appropriate funds and impose taxes all carried 6–0.
