Valley Mills ISD board ratifies TEKS certification; campuses report STAAR testing progress

The Board of Trustees of Valley Mills Independent School District voted unanimously April 16 to ratify the TEKS certification for the 2024–2025 school year. Trustees approved the certification after district staff reviewed the TEKS form and described the programs the district will use in 2025–26.
Elementary principal Mrs. Dowdy told the board, "We have just completed our first round of STAAR testing with the reading test." She said 5th grade students will take the science STAAR the following day and grades 3–5 will take math the next week, and that the district will host a Region 12 bullying presentation for 1st–5th graders on April 28 with a parent session that evening.
Minutes record the district's intent to submit the TEKS Certification survey before May 1, 2025. The certification vote was recorded as: mover Jim Blackford, seconder John Bullion, vote 7–0 to approve.
