Loveland reported the coalition provided Catch My Breath e-cigarette prevention training to 15 Monroe public elementary support staff and that staff subsequently taught a four-lesson curriculum to about 135 students. "It's a 4 lesson curriculum," she said, noting staff used physical-education periods and support personnel where classroom time was limited.
Using a Sanford Medicine toolkit, Loveland walked the board through nicotine equivalence for disposable devices and said, "That entire Elf Bar has 650 milligrams of nicotine, which is equivalent to 590 cigarettes." She framed the comparison as the reason the coalition runs contests and student activities to demonstrate consumption and promote prevention messaging.
