Superintendent Shaw gave a recap of projects completed under the 2020 bond and related asset funding, saying several elementary buildings and wings at Monroe High School are now effectively finished and energy‑efficient. "These buildings are really in a very close position of being done," he said, pointing to new unit ventilators, air conditioning and updated entrances in the completed buildings.
Board members questioned whether asbestos and other legacy systems had been removed; Shaw said abatement is targeted to work that will disturb materials and that the district abates piping or ceiling work when necessary. He also noted that much of the district’s furniture is decades old and that some items on the proposed list (interior electronic doors, marquees) drew skepticism as "Cadillac" items versus nonnegotiable systems work.
