Comal County OKs pilot interlocal agreement to add pedestrian lighting downtown

Comal County Commissioners on Oct. 30 approved an interlocal agreement with the City of New Braunfels permitting the city to install lights in downtown trees as a pilot to enhance pedestrian lighting and the downtown environment.
County staff told the court the pilot will use trees in front of the county annex building where power is available and the city will provide and power the lights. The project is intended to improve pedestrian lighting and downtown ambiance, particularly on weekends, and the court authorized the county judge to sign the agreement.
The action was approved by motion and voice vote; staff said the pilot would allow the city to test the concept in the downtown corridor before any broader rollout.
