Comal County issues multiple proclamations honoring native plants, libraries and mediation awareness

Comal County's Commissioners Court adopted a series of proclamations on Oct. 16 honoring local conservation, history, libraries and dispute-resolution services.
The court approved a proclamation recognizing Oct. 19–25, 2025, as Texas Native Plant Week, noting work by the Lindheimer and New Braunfels chapters of the Native Plant Society of Texas. A New Braunfels chapter speaker said, "there is no nature without native plants," and described educational programs, seed libraries and youth art tied to the observance.
The court also approved proclamations marking the 150th anniversary of the Germania Farmer of Rhine and recognized the Friends of the Ty Preston Memorial Library for volunteer fundraising and programs; Jim Little, identified as president of the Friends, thanked the court for the recognition. Finally, the court proclaimed October as Mediation Awareness Month; Martha Joyce, director of the Central Texas Dispute Resolution Center, described the center's four-county service area and low-cost mediations for underserved residents.
All proclamations were approved by motion and voice vote during the action agenda.
