The commissioners approved the appointment of the recommended county extension agent for horticulture. A Texas A&M AgriLife extension representative introduced finalist Eleni (transcript includes inconsistent spellings of the candidate's name), and the candidate addressed the court outlining a background in horticulture, viticulture, community agriculture projects and graduate theological studies that she said inform her community-focused work.
"Thank you for welcoming me to serve Comal County and my fellow man as Comal County's horticulture extension agent," the candidate said in her remarks, describing education at Texas A&M and prior work in vineyards, research and nonprofit agriculture programs. The court approved the appointment by motion and welcomed the new extension agent to county service.
