District previews Advanced Math changes, AI PD and technology readiness for assessments

The District Leadership Team’s Advanced Math Committee recommended changing the course title from "Advanced Third Grade Math" to "Enhanced Third Grade Math," combining third- and fourth-grade standards to better support acceleration while keeping student identification criteria unchanged. Families are to be informed in early spring 2026, and the new approach will begin in 2026–27.
Separately, the district announced staff professional development on artificial intelligence beginning Jan. 30, led by Joy DeFors and Kari Gemmel, and technology staff reported updates to servers, network infrastructure and Skyward competency-based grading (CBE) preparations ahead of winter benchmarking and MAP testing. District leaders signaled ongoing refinement of grading models and report cards to align with CBE practices.
