Rules committee told to remove explicit UBE reference to accommodate NextGen exam

Lexi Rice and Eric Lorenz told the committee that proposal 24-16 revises Rule 704 to describe the bar exam generically and leave administration details to the Board of Admissions so Illinois can adopt NextGen when ready. "In light of this upcoming transition, the board recommends revising the language of rule 704 d to more broadly describe the bar exam rather than refer to a specific exam," Rice said, noting Illinois plans to administer the NextGen exam beginning in 2028.
